This Week
Welcome back Cat! We were able to have a meeting to catch up with everything which was really lovely! Thanks to Larisa for helping me gather all the CABIN equipment I'll need to unofficially teach others early next week. I sped through a sample which felt very nice to do. I've written up a description of HHL's activity for our participation in the water festival that we'll be attending in Oct. In Fifa news, Norway won 4:1 against Iraq on Tuesday evening (woohoo!), Portugal played quite poorly against DR Congo, but it was still an exciting game to watch, and Canadians played amazingly on Thursday against Qatar, 6-0!!
NEXT WEEK
Teach 2 of Dalal Hanna's students along with a couple members of ERCA about the field CABIN protocol on Monday. We'll be out along Ruscom River all day Monday and will be using CJ. There's another SHORE meeting on Tuesday and I'd like to at least get 2 benthic samples completed by the end of the week.
EXTRA EXTRAS
Field work all day Monday

This Week
It's been so busy! My sister got married in St. Paul, Minnesota, this weekend and it was so beautiful and made me so happy. They're a great couple and she's become a happier person since meeting Patrick, which is exactly what you want from a relationship, I think. The weekend required a lot of energy though and when I got home Monday night I felt completely exhausted but I had a great meeting with Cat Tuesday morning. Then on Thursday I had an important meeting with both Cat and Todd discussing my timeline to graduate (time to get serious!), and it was nerve-wracking but very helpful. I have a lot of deadlines in the coming weeks and I'm scared but excited to be close to closing this chapter. Today (Friday) I'm starting to put together the analyses for the literature synthesis Tricya and I started in the winter. I'll be at GLIER during the week except for Wednesdays so if anyone needs a hardcore work buddy please feel free to reach out.
NEXT WEEK
I'm headed up to Sharbot Lake Fish Hatchery to PIT tag the Kidneyshell mussels with some DFO friends! It'll be a nice change of scenery and I'm excited to see a hatchery. I'll be working on the lit synthesis analyses and hopefully completing them by the end of next week.

This Week
It was a difficult week in terms of my life outside school. I'm proud of myself for giving myself space and gently working through what phd work I could, instead of just shutting down.
I had my annual heart check up and was told things look great. It doesn't seem like the affliction caused long term damage. Yay!
School: writing for sterilization trial, working out my agenda to transition to the next experiment. Field prep.
NEXT WEEK
Experiment things, getting field prep ready.
